Matrixyl 3000
A pair of palmitoyl "matrikine" messenger peptides formulated together under the trademarked name Matrixyl 3000. It is the current-generation successor to the original single-peptide Matrixyl, studied for the appearance of fine lines. The blend pairs a peptide fragment associated with collagen-related signaling with a second fragment studied for easing the visible look of stressed, aged-looking skin, and it now shows up in everything from drugstore anti-aging creams to prestige multi-peptide serums.

How it’s thought to work
Studied as messenger peptides associated with signaling the appearance of a more supported skin matrix; palmitoylation is what lets them penetrate. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 is modeled on a fragment tied to collagen signaling, while Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 is studied for association with calming the visible look of aged, stressed-looking skin. Because the two are formulated together, most of the supporting research looks at the blend as a whole rather than each peptide in isolation.
In a 12-week trial, palmitoyl pentapeptide reduced the look of fine lines and wrinkles compared with a placebo cream in women with photoaged skin.
